Who we are
Visit Lake DeSmet is an independent guide and a project of Wyo Stays LLC, a licensed Wyoming real estate brokerage (license #236100), Sheridan, Wyoming. It is not affiliated with Johnson County, the State of Wyoming or any official tourism board.
Wyo Stays manages vacation rentals and is a licensed real estate brokerage based in Sheridan. We built this guide because there was no good single place to plan a Lake DeSmet trip, and because searches for the lake kept landing people in South Dakota.
Not official
Lake DeSmet is operated by Johnson County. The fishery is managed by Wyoming Game and Fish. Water quality advisories come from Wyoming DEQ. Johnson County tourism is promoted by the Johnson County Tourism Association. We are none of those. For official information, go to Johnson County and Game and Fish. We do not take campground reservations or payments for the county.

None of that changes the facts on this site. Paid placement never buys a rating, because we do not publish ratings.
How we check facts
Facts link to their source, usually Johnson County, Game and Fish, DEQ or USGS. Event dates go up only after the organizer publishes them. Owner listings are re-verified with the owner every 120 days and come down if they are not. If you see something wrong, tell us and we will fix it.
